About this tour

Three days to fill your memory card where hardly anyone takes pictures: the fishing harbour of Arsuz at dawn, a boat trip with the fishermen, the dunes and beach of Samandağ at sunset, and the harsh light of the alleys and bazaar of Antakya. With a professional English-speaking photographer-guide, a schedule planned around the light and a private vehicle.

Arrival in Arsuz — Location Scouting and Sunset at the Harbour

Arrival
Istanbul Arsuz

We fly from Istanbul to Hatay (2 h) and head down to the coast to Arsuz, an hour and a half among mountains and citrus groves. The afternoon is for scouting locations with the photographer-guide: the quay, the boats, the nets and the faces, and what time the light falls on each. Sunset finds us shooting at the harbour; dinner is at your leisure, because the blue hour won't wait. Accommodation at a hotel of the planned category.

Flight: Istanbul (IST) → Hatay (HTY) (Turkish Airlines)
Visits: Arsuz fishing harbour and old town
Hotel: Standard hotel Arsuz · Bed & breakfast

With the Fishermen — a Dawn Boat Trip, Portraits and the Samandağ Dunes

Arsuz Samandağ Arsuz

The alarm goes off before the seagulls: we head out by boat with the fishermen of Arsuz to photograph their work in the first light, and return to the quay as the catch is auctioned — portraits, gestures and steam from the tea. After a rest, in the afternoon we go up to Samandağ beach: dunes, wind and one of the longest sunsets in the eastern Mediterranean. Blue-hour session and dinner at your leisure. Accommodation at a hotel of the planned category.

Visits: Boat trip with the fishermen of Arsuz, Samandağ turtle beach

Antakya in Hard Light — Alleys, the Bazaar and the Flight Home

Departure
Arsuz Hatay

The morning changes register: the alleys of Antakya's old town and the Uzun Çarşı Bazaar are an exercise in light and shadow, laurel-soap steam and working hands. The guide sets a mini street-photography challenge — a story in five photos — and we review it over lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport and flight back to Istanbul. End of our services; the photos, of course, are yours to keep.

Flight: Hatay (HTY) → Istanbul (IST) (Turkish Airlines)
Visits: Antakya Old Town, Uzun Çarşı Bazaar and laurel soap workshops

Important notes

General

Entry requirements

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your return date. Visa rules depend on your nationality: some passport holders can visit visa-free for short tourist stays, while others need an e-Visa, which takes a few minutes to get at www.evisa.gov.tr. Each traveller is responsible for checking the requirements for their nationality before flying.

Activities

Level and equipment

Any level is welcome: the guide adapts the plan both for those who shoot in manual and for those using a phone. We recommend a fast or versatile lens, plenty of spare batteries and, if you have one, a light tripod for the blue hour. Early starts are part of the price of good light.

People and permission

Portraits here are done with respect: we ask permission — the guide acts as a bridge, and the answer is almost always an invitation to tea — and any sensitive photos are shown to the person before you keep them. The boat goes out if the sea allows; if it's choppy, it is replaced by the fish auction on the quay.

Do I need to speak Turkish for this trip?

No. Your guide, Sinan, speaks fluent English and is with you throughout the trip. He takes care of all the arrangements, translations, bookings and negotiations for you.

Can I customise Arsuz: Photography Tour 3 Days?

Yes. Arsuz: Photography Tour 3 Days is a private tour, so this 3-day itinerary is flexible: you can change stops, add extra days, swap hotels or adjust the pace of the trip. Message me with your preferences and we'll design your tailor-made trip, with no extra charge for the planning.

When is the best time to visit Arsuz?

Türkiye can be visited all year round. Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) bring pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer is ideal for the coast, and winter has its own charm in Cappadocia, with snow-covered landscapes.

Why can't I see a price on this page?

Because this is a private tour and its price depends on your dates, how many of you are travelling, the hotel category and the visits you want to include. I'd rather work it out by hand and send you a real quote, with everything itemised, than show you a "from" price that ends up looking nothing like what you pay. Request it with the quote form on this page and you'll have it within 24 hours.

How do booking and payment work?

Once you request a quote, you receive a private link with the final price and the full itinerary, with no obligation. To confirm, you pay a 30% deposit. The balance is paid 31 days before departure, by bank transfer or card (+3% surcharge). If you cancel more than 90 days before departure, only the handling fee and any penalties charged for flights and services already issued are retained; closer to departure, the cancellation policy scale applies, the same one you'll see in your quote.
