Hakkari
The Alps of Türkiye: the Zap valley, 4,000 m peaks and mountain hospitality.
About Hakkari
Hakkari, wedged between Iraq and Iran, is the most mountainous province in Türkiye: the Cilo mountains reach 4,135 m and the Zap river has carved a dizzying canyon that the road climbs through. This is a land of shepherds, seasonal migrations and a serious, unannounced kind of hospitality.
Very few travellers make it this far; those who do understand why this corner is called the Alps of Türkiye.
