Türkiye for Couples: A Romantic Trip to the Best Places

9 Mar 2026 Sinan Topali 3 min read

The most romantic places and experiences in Türkiye: honeymoons, cave hotels in Cappadocia, dinners by the Bosphorus, sunset cruises and more.

Türkiye is one of the most romantic destinations in the world, and it isn’t just me saying so: balloons over Cappadocia at dawn, dinners by the Bosphorus, sunsets on the Turquoise Coast and historic hammams make a perfect setting for couples.

Romantic experiences not to miss

A sunrise balloon flight in Cappadocia

Floating over the valleys together as the sun turns the fairy chimneys orange is probably the most romantic moment you can have on any trip. Afterwards, a Turkish breakfast on the terrace of your cave hotel. Read my Cappadocia balloon guide before you book.

A cave hotel with a private hot tub

In Göreme and Ürgüp you can sleep in rooms carved into volcanic rock, some with a bathtub or hot tub looking out over the valley. Waking up to balloons floating past your window is magical.

A private sunset cruise on the Bosphorus

A private cruise at sunset, a boat just for the two of you, gliding past Ottoman palaces and fortresses as the Istanbul skyline lights up. Dinner, music and champagne can be added. Unforgettable.

Dinner with a view

Istanbul has restaurants with spectacular views: Mikla (a rooftop with a 360° panorama), Sunset Grill & Bar overlooking the Bosphorus, and the waterside tables of Ortaköy, Kuruçeşme and Çengelköy, where you eat meze and fresh fish as the lit-up ferries go by.

A hammam for two

Historic hammams such as Çemberlitaş Hamamı (16th century) or Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamamı offer treatments and private sessions for couples, under Ottoman domes and surrounded by marble. More in my Turkish hammam guide.

The best places for couples

  • Cappadocia: a cave hotel with a private terrace, balloons at sunrise, dinner in a restaurant carved into the rock.
  • Istanbul: bohemian neighbourhoods like Karaköy, a Bosphorus cruise, rooftops overlooking the illuminated mosques.
  • Ölüdeniz / Fethiye: the Blue Lagoon, tandem paragliding side by side from Babadağ mountain, hidden coves by boat.
  • Bodrum: a Mediterranean vibe, beach clubs and legendary sunsets.

Suggested romantic itinerary (10 days)

Days 1–3: Istanbul (Karaköy, Bosphorus cruise, hammam, romantic dinner). Days 4–5: Cappadocia (cave hotel, balloons, valley tour). Days 6–7: Pamukkale and Ephesus. Days 8–10: the Turquoise Coast (Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley, Kaş).

Short on time? 7 days

Days 1–3: Istanbul (bazaars, Bosphorus, romantic dinner). Days 4–5: Cappadocia (balloon, cave hotel, dinner in a cave restaurant). Days 6–7: the Turquoise Coast or Pamukkale (relaxing, beach, nature). I’ve organised this itinerary for couples dozens of times and it works perfectly.

I can design a tailor-made romantic trip with the best hotels and experiences for couples.
