You can visit Türkiye all year round, but the best time to visit Türkiye depends on what you want to do and where you want to go. Here is everything you need to know, month by month.
Best time to visit by destination
Istanbul
Best: April to June and September to November. Pleasant temperatures (15–25 °C) and fewer visitors than in summer. April is spectacular, with the Tulip Festival. Summer (July–August) is hot and humid (30–35 °C). Winter is cold and rainy but has its own charm.
Cappadocia
Best: May to June and September to October. Perfect weather for walking, and the balloons fly almost every day. In winter, snowy Cappadocia is magical, but balloon flights are cancelled more often.
Turquoise Coast (Antalya, Fethiye, Bodrum)
Best: May to October. Beach season. July and August are very hot but perfect for the sea. June and September are less crowded and cheaper.
The south-east (Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin)
Best: March to May and October to November. Summers are extremely hot (40 °C and above). Spring and autumn are perfect.

- January – February: low season, lowest prices. Snowy Cappadocia, cold Istanbul. Ideal if you're looking for peace and quiet.
- March: spring begins. Temperatures rising. Few visitors.
- April: one of the best months. Tulip Festival in Istanbul. Green Cappadocia.
- May: excellent all over the country. The beach season begins.
- June: perfect. Long days and ideal weather in every destination.
- July – August: high season. Intense heat inland. Ideal for the coast.
- September: perhaps the best month. Moderate heat, fewer visitors, reasonable prices.
- October: excellent for Istanbul and Cappadocia. Autumn colours.
- November: low prices, some rainy days. Good for the south-east.
- December: snowy Cappadocia and a festive, wintry Istanbul. Türkiye in winter has a magic of its own.
Price seasons
- High season: June to August, Easter, Christmas and New Year. Highest prices. The two big Turkish religious holidays (Ramazan Bayramı at the end of Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı), whose dates move each year, also bring a lot of domestic travel.
- Shoulder season: April–May and September–October. The best value for money.
- Low season: November to March (except holidays). Lowest prices.

When to visit Türkiye: season by season
The experience changes a great deal with the season and the region, so here is a closer look to help you choose the perfect moment.
Spring (April – June): the best time overall
Pleasant temperatures (18–28 °C), long days, green landscapes and fewer visitors than in summer. April is spectacular in Istanbul thanks to the Tulip Festival, when millions of tulips bloom in the parks and gardens. May and June are ideal for Cappadocia, the Aegean coast and Pamukkale. This is the season I recommend most to my travellers.
Summer (July – August): sun and sea
Perfect for the Turquoise Coast (Fethiye, Antalya, Bodrum, Kaş), with the sea at around 26 °C. But in Istanbul and Cappadocia temperatures reach 35–40 °C and the crowds are huge. Prices go up by 30–50%. If you travel in summer, combine the coast with inland sightseeing and avoid the middle of the day in the cities.
Autumn (September – November): my favourite
My personal recommendation. September keeps the good weather with fewer people. October brings autumn colours to Cappadocia (spectacular for photography) and lower prices. November starts to turn cool, but Istanbul has a beautiful golden light and the Cappadocia balloons are cancelled less often because of wind.
Winter (December – March): Türkiye's best-kept secret
Istanbul under snow is magical: Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque covered in white are unforgettable images. Cappadocia under snow looks like a fairy tale. Prices are the lowest of the year (up to 50% less for accommodation). In the east of the country, however, temperatures drop to −20 °C and some roads close.
